The Articling Experience

The articling program at Bird Richard offers students an opportunity to develop practical legal skills in a specialized, boutique firm setting. The articling student will gain exposure to all areas of practice within the firm, including employment law, labour law, human rights and workers’ compensation.

While the articling experience inevitably involves legal research, the student will also have a chance to become involved in other aspects of the legal profession, including legal drafting, attending client meetings, and observing hearings. In addition, the small size of the firm and its open door policy allow the articling student to interact with and benefit from the experience of each of the firm’s lawyers.

Bird Richard offers a balanced workload and a competitive salary consistent with those offered by similarly-sized firms in the Ottawa area.
